I’m pleased to announce that my brand new Macbook is back in working condition! Apologies to the patrons who had purchased items and not received timely replies or updates, as you can guess I was in great distress last week and could only access my email during working hours!
What happened was this: I bought a new Macbook Pro to bring over to Sheffield for my Masters, thinking I’d like to have a stable system and new computer to mark my new course of study (my previous Lenovo would be about 4 years old by then). Managed to use my Education discount and purchased the Pro at an excellent price, and had it for all of 2 weeks before the system crashed on me. =/ Which was a huge shocker as well, it’s a Macbook! And none of my friends who owned Macs (and believe me, there are plenty) had ever experienced such a thing – in Singapore we call it “Damn suay lah” (translated: unfortunate or bad luck). So I had to run around and bring it to the service center who sent me back to the call centre who wanted to send me to the service center and overall put me in a pisser of a mood – and the customer service staff were quite ridiculous in their attitude (the service centre guy even told me such problems were evident in other computer brands and Apple was no different – uh, hello, brand promotion much?). So after a circuitous route which was completely unnecessary and resulted in much upset on my part I managed to get hold of the CS manager and poured out my woes to him over the phone (to put it mildly). Turns out it was a fault in the hard disk (resulting in the start-up not even being able to detect the disk) and they would replace a brand new computer for me and throw in a gift voucher to replace my Moshi Palmguard I’d already purchased and used.
And to top it all off, I was down with a bad flu last week and blowing/coughing up funny-coloured icky stuff.
Sigh.
Well, everything’s back to normal now – I hope – and this new Macbook Pro won’t up and die on me, otherwise I’d totally swear off Apple products.
Coming soon: updated events and designs!
